OUTSIDE OF WORK
Rashida is extremely active in her community. She was formally Vice Chair of the Ward One Democrats and is a proud five term elected official serving as Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in Washington, DC. In her elected role, she advocates for affordable housing and revitalization along the Georgia Avenue Corridor. She also fostered transportation projects promoting pedestrian, vehicular and bicycle safety and connectivity throughout her Single Member District and supported their extension within and beyond Ward One. She worked with community members in leading a public safety task force for Georgia Ave, now Georgia Avenue Thrive, to support small businesses, protect the safely and well-being of residents and promote vibrancy and inclusivity along the corridor. When she is not working at Aidkit or doing community work, she enjoys wine tasting, Sunday meditation, 1990s R&B and Hip Hop dance parties, spending time with friends and family, and chain watching Celebrity Ghost Stories.
